String Tension Charts

Common sets and tunings, calculated.

What these charts show

Each chart gives the estimated tension of every string in a common set, in a common tuning, with the total in pounds and kilograms. They are generated by the same calculation as the main calculator, so a chart always matches what you get by entering the same gauges there.

Electric guitar charts use a 25.5″ scale and bass charts a 34″ scale. For other scale lengths, gauges or tunings, use the calculator. Method and accuracy are on the Methodology page.
